Michael Phelps may be a fish in the water, but he isn't so good at surfing--at least, crowd surfing. The Olympic gold medalist swimmer took a dive when he tried to crowd surf at a nighclub in Las Vegas and it was all caught on video.
Michael Phelps may be a record holder for 22 Olympic medals, with 18 of them being gold, but he wouldn't get a gold medal for crowdsurfing. Now that he's retired, the 27 year old is continuing to celebrate his successful Olympic career. He visited XS nightclub on Monday night and decided to try to crowd surf among the partygoers, according to TMZ.
Usually when people crowd surf, they simply use their bodies and let the crowd move them around, but Phelps, along with a friend, tried to crowd surf on an inflatable tube.
It didn't end well.
The crowd couldn't hold up the 6-foot-4-inch, 185-pound swimmer. Phelps lasted about four seconds before he fell backwards out of the tube and hit the ground.
Although he might be a rookie at crowdsurfing, this wasn't Phelps' first time partying in Las Vegas.
After the Summer Games ended, Phelps took to Sin City to celebrate his retirement back in September. He enjoyed a pool party at Encore Beach Club with friends, fans and fellow Team USA swimmers. The swimmer also went to a party at Vegas's Surrender Nightclub, did a bit of gambling, and got served an Olympic retirement cake by bikini-clad waitresses.
