A new research suggests that active "Pokémon Go" players are three times more likely to meet official US activity guidelines. A report posted by Gamasutra says this has the potential to affect a player's life expectancy. What this means is playing the game can help increase your life expectancy. "If this user engagement is maintained, 'Pokémon Go' would have the potential to measurably affect US life expectancy", says the report.
The study is being carried out by researchers from the University of Stanford, who have gone on to say actively engaged users are more likely to increase their average daily activity by as much as 26 percent. According to the researchers, engaged users increase their activity by at least 1473 steps a day or an increase of 26 percent.
"If engagement with 'Pokémon Go' could be sustained over the lifetime of its many users, we estimate that the game would add an estimated 2.825 million years of additional lifetime to US users", added the researchers.
