Microsoft Provides Update To 'Phantom Dust' After 'Scalebound' Cancellation Controversy

Microsoft was under fire for canceling the much anticipated Xbox One exclusive title, "Scalebound." The company is now being watched by fans who got extremely disappointed and paranoid. Due to this, Microsoft took the initiative in assuring fans of the progress of another Xbox One exclusive, which has been in a longer development cycle, "Phantom Dust."

As reported at Gamerant, in light of the controversial cancellation of "Scalebound," Microsoft assures fans that "Phantom Dust" is far from sharing the same fate, Platinum Games' work had. General Manager Shannon Loftis confirmed himself of the game's progress as "going well."

The JRPG game was initially revealed in 2013 and showcased at E3 2014. Microsoft valued the project and opted to do a reboot, though the project planning and pretty much everything went through budget problems, halting the development.

Fortunately, last year's E3 gave way for fans to witness the game's development getting back on track, making the remaster possible again. A lot of fans were glad to hear the news, though almost the same amount of followers had their second thoughts.

The Wolf Hall posted Mike Mayoral's tweet regarding the "confidence" in the brand. "Scalebound" and "Fable" were now out of the big picture with only a few remaining including "Phantom Dust." Shannon Loftis herself replied to the tweet, assuring of the game's development status.

The game could possibly be Microsoft's trump card, especially in Japan, where the Xbox One isn't all that well-received. The loss of "Scalebound" was already a big hit to the company's potential console sales, but hope is not all that lost.

Similar games are now under the fear of getting canned due to the recent controversies like "Crackdown 3," "Sea of Thieves" and even "Halo Wars 2," but the publishers and developers are hard at work in providing development updates to ease the minds of the fans.
