'Scalebound' Cancellation Addressed By Game Developer And Director

After Microsoft Studios confirmed the cancellation of "Scalebound," fans of the game were left broken hearted. But apparently, there is nothing that they can do about the game's termination. This time, the game's developer and director said something about the fate of the game.

Game developer Platinum Games gave a statement about "Scalebound" being canceled. They acknowledged the ill-fated event through a blog post written by Platinum President and CEO Kenichi Sato.

"We’re sorry to say that on January 9, 2017, Microsoft Studios announced the cancellation of 'Scalebound.' We are very disappointed things ended up this way, especially since we know many of our fans were looking forward to this game as much as we were," said the post on Platinum Game's official blog.

Aside from that, they committed to continue working hard in making new high-quality games. This includes the release of Nier: Automata in March, GRANBLUE FANTASY Project Re: Link and LOST ORDER.

It wasn't only Platinum that talked about the cancellation. Game director Hideki Kamiya expressed his apology to Twitter directing his tweets to fans of the game. He said that he knew fans expected it to be released but it, unfortunately, ended up getting scrapped.

In a series of apologetic tweets, Kamiya promised to continue delivering fun games. He even said that he will work even harder to make sure that the situation will not happen again. Kamiya was surprised that he received many warm messages since he expected to get "savage messages" from his followers.

The game director also clarified the rumors circulating online that one reason that "Scalebound" was canceled is due to his mental health issues. IGN also reported that he is not taking a break from his work in making games.

The teaser trailer for Scalebound was released during the E3 2014. The game features a character dealing with giant dragons and other monsters.
