Joseph Fiennes stars as Michael Jackson in a 30-minute episode of "Urban Myths". "Elizabeth, Michael & Marlon" will also star Stockard Channing as Elizabeth Taylor and Brian Cox as Marlon Brando. The series excites some people, but not Paris Jackson.
The first trailer of the TV anthology was just released and Paris is not happy. "I'm so incredibly offended by it, as I'm sure plenty of people are as well, and it honestly makes me want to vomit," Paris posted on Twitter. "It angers me to see how obviously intentional it was for them to be this insulting, not just towards my father, but my godmother [Elizabeth Taylor] as well," she added. The King of Pop's fans share the same sentiment as Paris and created a petition to boycott the movie.
According to Rolling Stone, the show released the trailer on Wednesday. It shows Fiennes' Jackson remains mostly silent, but said "I sense the danger" to Channing's Taylor towards the end of the clip. The trailer also shows a highway patrolman pulled over the trio and was shocked to see three megastars in a rented sedan.
ET Online interviewed Fiennes last January where he said that he was "shocked" to be cast in the role. The British actor also said that the made-for-television comedy is not in any way malicious, and that it's actually "endearing".
"Urban Myths" is a project which features several short stories about urban legends of some of Hollywood's famous myths. The story about Michael Jackson refers to the urban legend that long-time friends Jackson, Taylor and Brando hopped into a car for a cross-country road trip out of New York City following the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
The TV anthology will also include stories of Cary Grant's alleged love of LSD, a story about Adolf Hitler and "Hitler's friend" and another involving Samuel Beckett. "Urban Myths" will air on January 19 on Sky Arts.
