The actress had a painful bout with social media when the fans claimed that she is still dating her ex-boyfriend despite being with the "One Call Away" singer. She revealed that she received death threats because of the issue as reported by Wonderwall.
The worst thing happened when Charlie Puth slammed her on social media. She was branded as a two-timer. Adding insult to injury, her boyfriend believed social media more than her.
Bella Thorne opened up the whole incident and explained her side. According to her, she "received death threats for a hot minute because they thought I had cheated on my ex, which is a total lie."
She also lamented, "It doesn't feel good to think that everybody in the world just thinks you're an absolutely disgusting person and just because I'm somebody where people know my name, it's so much worse for me," she said. "And people think that, like, we don't get bullied in Hollywood-but we do!"
The 19-year-old actress said that people are taking social media as such a huge thing. Users think they know everything and cause friends to dump friends just because of unfounded posts. They get to let people hate and call others by any name they want. There is a tendency of someone talking and everybody wants to jump into the drama.
She explained that the reason why is she is seen with male friends is that because she prefers guy friends than girls because she dislikes friends who are too girly. The aftermath of the scandal was her feeling so down and sad about the whole thing.
