iPad Mini Release Date Could Be November 2, Price Rumors Swirl

The iPad Mini's release date may be pretty soon. Sources are saying that Apple's new iPad mini will be released on November 2 and some are speculating about the iPad Mini price.

Techcrunch reported that Apple will announce the iPad Mini at an event in San Jose on Tuesday, October 23 as invitations were sent out to media sources for the coverage. The new tablet is then expected to ship a week and a half after the announcement on Nov. 2. This is when the iPad is expected to be in stores as well.

The expected release date was revealed by Geeky Gadgets, which claims to have received this information from a prominent U.K. retailer. The source correctly predicted the release date of the iPhone 5, which came out last month on September 21.

The iPad Mini is expected to be the smallest model yet, with a screen measuring 7.85 inches and a 16:9 aspect ratio, according to Geeky Gadgets. It will come in 8GB, 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB versions and there will be Wi-Fi and cellular options.

Some photos of a possible iPad Mini have already leaked on the internet. To see one of them, click here.

The site reports that the new iPad mini may cost £200 or $250 for the 8GB version, which is bound to give other new tablets some stiff competition, such as the new Microsoft Surface tablet and the Kindle Fire HD.

However, PC Mag suggested that the price of the 64GB cellular iPad mini may be $840.

It is not clear if the iPad mini will be able to pre-order the device on the day of the Oct. 23 announcement. However, when the last iPad was announced, customers were able to pre-order it right away and it shipped within nine days.

The expected release date of Nov. 2 would make sense for the business as the holiday shopping season approaches. Apple tends to do well during the holiday season, especially when it comes to their iPads.

In addition to the iPad Mini, Apple is expected to introduce a 13 inch Retina Macbook Pro and maybe even a new Mac Mini.
