Spirit Airlines Creates 'Binders Full of Women' Ad For New Promotion

Ever since Republican nominee Mitt Romney's comments about having "binders full of women," the internet has gone wild with memes and jokes relating to the statement. Now, Spirit Airlines is getting in on the fun with a new ad that plays off Romney's binders comment.

As part of a new airfare sale promotion, Spirit Airlines released an ad that shows a set of colorful binders and says "We've got tons of binders full of sales." It is then followed by the phrase "Women will love them!"

The ad mocks Romney after he made a comment about having binder full of women. During the second presidential debate on October 16 at Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York, the candidates were asked a question about equality for women in the workplace.Romney started discussing how his administration specifically wanted to hire more women.

"We took a concerted effort to go out and find women who had backgrounds that could be qualified to become members of our Cabinet. I went to a number of women's groups and said, 'Can you help us find folks?' And they brought us whole binders full of women," Romney said during the debate.

The phrase "binders full of women" sparked instant jokes on the internet.

A tumblr blog called Binders Full of Women was created to post memes relating to the comment and several Facebook fan pages appeared as well

.Now Spirit Airlines has decided to get in on the action and this isn't the first time they've created controversial ads that related to politicial or other news events. They recently had an ad that attacked American Airlines as they dealt with several instances of seats becoming loose on their Boeing 757 planes. Spirit had a special promotion in which they gave 7.57 percent off airfare, saying "We let fares loose, not seats!" according to USA Today.

In 2011, they created an ad mocking the Arnold Schwarzenegger affair. They had an image of a sexy made and said "Fares so low, you can take the whole family! Including that half-brother you just met," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
