Woman Lives Biblically for a Year, Writes Book [VIDEO]

A Tennessee woman has lived "Biblically" for an entire year. The Telegraph reported that Rachel Held Evans from Dayton started following strict instructions from the bible last October, which included during her period sleeping for a tent for a week per month and not touching her husband. She also called her husband "master," and didn't cut her hair for an entire year.

On Evan's website she states, "Starting this month, I will commit one year of my life to following all of the Bible's instructions for women as literally as possible. From the Old Testament to the New Testament, from Genesis to Revelation, from the Levitical code to the letters of Paul, there's no picking and choosing. (Well, except for polygamy...and a few other things that I'll tell you about later.)"

With her interesting year-long experiment she has written an upcoming book called, "A Year of Biblical Womanhood."

Evans claims to have decided to start the experiment after hearing a lot of debate about gender roles and the place of women in the church, home and society. "While many hail "biblical womanhood" as the ideal, few seem to agree on exactly what it means, so women like me receive mixed messages about how to honor God with our decisions. I was thinking about this in the shower one morning, when I got a crazy idea. What if I tried it all? What if took the notion of biblical womanhood literally to show how we all pick and choose when it comes to applying the Bible?" she said.

Evans makes her living as a writer. Her first book was called "Evolving in Monkey Town" published in 2010 and explores the relationship between faith and doubt and recounts the challenges of asking tough questions about Christianity in the context of the Bible Belt.
