Flavor Flav was arrested in Las Vegas due to domestic dispute with his fiance. The Associated Press reported that Flavor Flav was arrested with both misdemeanor and felony charges after he was arguing with his fiance and threatened her son, who is a teenager with a knife.
Flav, 53, is well known as being a rapper for the group Public Enemy, who wears quirky accessories such as an oversized clock and a Viking hat. The group garnered popularity in the 80s and 90s and Flav has also starred in his own reality tv show, "Flavor of Love," where eager women competed for his love and he searched for the right romantic partner. His legal name is William Jonathan Drayton Jr, the AP reports.
No one was injured in the dispute and Las Vegas Police said to the AP that he was arrested around 3:30 a.m. near the Vegas strip at a home.
"Drayton faces a felony assault with a deadly weapon charge carrying a possible penalty of up to six years in prison and a misdemeanor battery-domestic violence charge that could get him six months in county jail, according to jail records," reports the AP.
The AP reports that Flav already has a criminal history which includes serving a month in jail for assaulting a former girlfriend in 1991 and he spent three months in jail after he shot a neighbor in New York in 1993.
He has also been arrested in 2011 for unpaid traffic warrants, the AP reported.
TMZ reported that currently, Flav is being held on $23,000 bail.
