A 96 year old man in India claims to be the oldest new father in the world.
The Times of India reported that Ramjeet Raghav who lives in Kharkhoda claims that the birth of his child by his 52-year-old wife Shakuntala Devi makes him the oldest new father in the world.
Raghev had his son, Vikramajeet., on Oct. 5. Prior to meeting his wife he told The Times of India that he had practiced celibacy for his entire life. Ten years ago he met his wife Davi.
"After staying together, we decided to extend our family and aspired for two sons. With God's grace, our wish has been fulfilled," he said to The Times of India.
Raghev had his first child two years ago, also making headlines at 94-years-old.
He added to the newspaper, "I didn't take any performance enhancers. ... I just prayed to God to complete my family, either a boy or a girl."
Raghave said to The Sun that the food he eats such as butter, milk and almonds are a reason for his good health and the fact that he doesn't do drugs or alcohol.
""I think it's very important for a husband and wife to have sex regularly and when she asks I will go on all night, but for the sake of my child I've put our needs aside for now," he added according to Ninemsn.com
Yahoo News reported that the life expectancy in India is in the lower third of U.N. statistics at approximately 65 years old.
"While male fertility rates are not as directly correlated to age as are women's, male fertility rates do decline with age, according to a study published in the 2004 issue of Human Reproduction Update," reported Yahoo News.
