The Universal Studios Hollywood has achieved an attendance record and reached the full capacity of the park for the first time in its history. The increase in visitors is attributed to the transformation of the theme park, following its 2014 investment.
The Los Angeles Times has reported that industry experts estimated that more than 40,000 visitors went to the park last January 2, 2017. And due to the full capacity, the park had to close its gates to new customers. The theme park started to close its gates just after noon.
This is the first time Universal Studios Hollywood has had to close its gate to new customers. But the increase in the park's attendance didn't just happen overnight. The report said that the theme park has been reporting a gradual increase in attendance following its $1.6 billion investment in 2014.
The investment has paved the way for new attractions such as the expansion of the "Wizarding World of Harry Potter" and the recently opened haunted maze that's inspired by "The Walking Dead." Other new attraction includes the "Fast and Furious:" Supercharged ride.
Universal Studios Hollywood president and CEO Karen Irwin told the LA Times that the transformation the park underwent had a major impact on their attendance. She said this evident in their "record-breaking attendance over the holidays."
The theme park attracts all kinds of visitors, including celebrities themselves. Just Jared Jr. reported that "The Rocky Horror" actress and singer Victoria Justice had just shared on Instagram her recent visit to the theme park.
Justice shared a photo of her and a boney statue at the Wizarding World. The photo showed her kissing the hand of the statue captioning it with "Bae & I had so much fun @UniStudios yesterday..."
