Two hikers have gone missing in Glacier National Park, located in Montana. Now, crews that are searching for the two men, have found clues that could aid in the search.
Neal Peckens, 32, and Jason Hiser, 32, were reported missing by their relatives, NBC News reported. Hiser is from Maryland and Peckens from Virginia failed to miss their flights home.
NBC News reported that on Friday park rangers found their vehicle and started searching for the two men on Saturday.
Sunday, 50 crew members looked through the area on horses and on foot. Bad weather has affected the search, a statement released by the park said. "The weather has been quite challenging for the search operation. Search personnel are encountering up to 18 inches of snow on trails, snow drifts, limited visibility and very windy conditions. Aerial operations were limited today due to low visibility and extremely windy conditions."
"According to their back country permits, they were scheduled to return to a park trail head on Wednesday, completing a 17-mile loop," NBC News reported.
The park has used social media as well with "missing" posters of the two men, NBC News reported.
According to the park's statement, a recently used fire ring and tracks have been found. "It is believed the evidence may be related to the missing hikers. It is probable that due to winter weather conditions and snow covered trails, the two men may have gone off trail. The fire ring and tracks were found in the Nyack Drainage, on the west side of the Continental Divide and includes some very dense, steep and treacherous terrain," said the statement.
The have urged anyone who has any information to contact the park at 406-888-7805.
