Dogs really are mans best friend, especially in this story of a dog in Portland, Connecticut saving a 9-week old girl by waking up her parents in their home on Sunday.
The Huffington Post reported that The Brousseau family went to bed Sunday night after putting their 9-week old daughter to bed earlier in her separate room. The family dog, Duke, jumped on their bed late Sunday after they went to sleep and "began shaking uncontrollably."
The couple, who adopted Duke six years ago said to WFSB news that Duke was normally obedient so they were surprised at Duke's uncharacteristic actions jumping on their bed and waking them up in the middle of the night. Jenna Brousseau said "He is insanely obedient, so this was extremely bizarre."
According to the Huffington Post because Duke jumped on the couple and woke them up, they knew something must have been wrong. They went into their daughter, Harper's bedroom to find that she wasn't breathing.
The Huffington Post reported that an amubulence was called and the baby was revived by paramedics. She was then taken to the hospital.
Jenna said according to the Huffington Post, "If Duke hadn't been so scared, we would have just gone to sleep."
She added to wcvb.com to the He's the perfect dog. He was meant to be ours, and meant to be hers. I tell him all the time, 'You were born in mommy's heart,' just because he was so meant to be ours. He's heaven. He's a good boy."
