Curtis Stone's travel tips are amazingly practical and got lots of wisdom. He is a celebrity chef, author, and television personality nicknamed "The Quiet Terminator." Stone is Coles Supermarket's ambassador in Australia since 2010.
With his travel experiences, he is the authority when it comes to traveling. He says, "All I know is that I fly to Australia at least five times a year and I cross the United States around 20 times." Here are his tips for travelers as shared by Sydney Morning Herald:
Always pack a suitcase full of dirty clothesThe renowned chef advises that when traveling, it is wise to pack a bagful of dirty clothes. He reasoned that clean clothes will get wrinkled upon arrival when packed in a suitcase. Upon arrival, he calls the housekeeping of the hotel he is billeted and asks for laundry service. True enough in just a matter of hours clothes are neatly folded and pressed.
Keeping assorted currencies in a special partition in your wallet. Doing this will ensure that taxi fares, terminal tickets, and tips can be taken care of. Always bring along IDs that can prove your identity in case you get stranded or in any emergency situation.
Be friendly. If possible always talk to your seatmate in a train. Curtis Stone shared that on one of his flights, he talked to his seatmate in the plane. It so happened that his seatmate is a 70-year-old man who was a father to triplets. He was able to get parenting tips from the man.
Make your flight the best way to rest. Get on board tired. Travel after a day of work. In this way, you are tired and want to sleep really well. You can have the most relaxing sleep while on board.
Never compromise an important travel and memorable event because you want to save. Stone shared that there was a time in one of his travels that he got stingy. They were in the Tutankhamen's tomb. To go inside, they were to an extra $10. He thought that it is not practical. However, he realized that he saved the money but he failed to see the tomb of the famous pharaoh in history.
Avoid the room service menu. Food served inside your hotel room can be unhealthy. Just request for something in the kitchen not included in the menu. You will be served food that you desire. The practical chef is already a successful entrepreneur. Thrillist reported that he was able to put up his own restaurant, Maude (which is the name of his grandmother).
More tips from the expert cook? You can find the best restaurants in town by using his strategy. You can ask the suggestion of the cook of the restaurant on where the chefs mostly dine in the area.
