One of Britain's most famous chefs, Jamie Oliver, is well known for campaigning for healthy eating, while maintaining a franchise of restaurants, a magazine, a production company and various food TV shows that he has hosted. The renaissance man is now reaching to Singapore with his chain Italian restaurant, Jamie's Italian.
CNN reported that Oliver has plans of opening his restaurant in the summer of 2013 in Singapore's VivOcity which a lifestyle complex across from Sentosa Island.
To date, Oliver has opened restaurant chains in other countries and Singapore marks its fifth international opening. Other International cities include Dublin, Perth, Sydney and Dubai.
Oliver said to CNN, "I can't tell you how excited I am to be opening a restaurant in VivoCity. It's such a fantastic location and I'm delighted to be able to bring Jamie's Italian experience to the wonderful people of Singapore."
Todayonline.com reported that the move was in parthernship with Hotel Properties Limited (HPL). The restaurant will feature "pasta made on-site daily to complement an almost predictable set-up featuring the antipasti station, an open kitchen and an al fresco dining area," reported todayonline.com.
Jamie's Italian first opened up shop in Oxford, England in 2008. Since then 30 restaurants have opened shop in the UK with outposts in other international locations.
The Jamie's Italian website says that the "menu is driven by what you'd find ordinary people eating over in Italy. Rustic, simple dishes, the best ingredients we could find both locally and in Italy - and seasonal too - made with care but delivered without lots of fuss. We'll be making fresh pasta every day, serving the most beautiful anti-pasti and our aim is create a place where you'll feel right at home, tucking into any combination of great food."
