Man Eats Cockroaches in a Contest and Tragically Dies [VIDEO]

A man from West Palm Beach, Florida has died after participating, and winning, a cockroach eating contest.

32-year-old Edward Archbold had signed up for a insect eating contest at Ben Siegel Reptiles in Deerfield Beach, NBC News reported.

Reportedly Archbold ate dozens of giant cockroaches and won an ivory-ball python for his efforts.

NBC News reported that after eating the dozens of cockroaches he started to feel sick and started to vomit and collapsed in the store. After that he was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.

His official cause of death is not yet known but The Associated Press reported that his remains are being tested to find the cause.

Michael Adams, a professor of entemology at the University of California, Riverside said to The Associated Press, "Unless the roaches were contaminated with some bacteria or other pathogens, I don't think that cockroaches would be unsafe to eat. Some people do have allergies to roaches," he said, "but there are no toxins in roaches or related insects."

Store owner Ben Siegel said to the AP, "We feel terribly awful," He looked like he just wanted to show off and was very nice.

The AP reported that all participants in the contest signed waivers. Siegel's attorney said in a statement that the they signed waivers "accepting responsibility for their participation in this unique and unorthodox contest."

According to NBC News, Archibold's friends said on Facebook about him, "This goes out to one of the most funnest, craziest, and most energetic person I have ever met!!! I will never ever forget u Eddie... I don't think anyone could!!"
