'Game of Thrones' Season 7 Taking Extra Miles For Grand Finale: Epic Series To Have A Spinoff?

Winter is coming and with it comes the highly anticipated flagship of HBO, "Game of Thrones" Season 7 that will push through an epic final season. As per the showrunners David Benioff and Daniel Weiss, this season will have a fewer episodes with seven parts compared to the previous seasons that consists 10.

According to Watchers on the Wall, a website community devoted to breaking news and commentaries about the show, Iain Glen, the actor who plays Jorah Mormont, confirmed that the season will be given seven episodes. Glen also shared that though the show will be cut into fewer episodes, he reassured the fans that the effort to make 10 episodes will also be applied this season and maybe even better.

"I think the scale and size of the set pieces, the world that is being created it's just getting more and more extraordinary and they feel they need that time to shoot seven hours as opposed to ten," said Glen in an interview with Radio Times. He also added that there will be fifteen hours left in the show with seven episodes this season and six for the finale. The extra two hours however will probably an extension to each season ender or maybe divided equally to every episodes.

Time also reported that the show will be out a little bit later than the previous seasons. As "Game of Thrones" will be covering winter, the showrunners waited to have an actual winter to accommodate what is demanded by the story. The delay also points out the detail that will be incorporated in the show.

The seven part series will be finished in filming on the middle of February if nothing went wrong. A broadcast will now then be likely summer of 2017 that will then push for an ultimate finale in 2018. "We've known the end for quite some time and we're hurtling towards it," said Benioff.

Fans are thrilled and are expecting much from the show that rocked the world since its first premier on 2011. Though all good things must come to an end, HBO is planning to explore more the rich lore of Westeros with a spinoff project.
