Cyclops Kitten: One Eyed Kitten Stuns Owners [VIDEO]

A one eyed Bengal kitten was born and only lived a short time, but his short-lived life was captured on YouTube by his owners.

The Huffington Post reported that the rare Cyclops kitty was named Cleyed and that the YouTube video description says, "All of us in the operating room experienced a VERY RARE once in a lifetime (hopefully) kitten births," the YouTube description says. To start off, both horns of the uterus were twisted together THREE times. After untwisting the horns our veterinarian started the surgery and she removed the first baby, the baby was handed to me and I started drying her off."

When the vet tech handed the one-eyed kitten to the owner, she wrote in the YouTube video description "He floored me, I was in shock as I have only seen a picture of a Cyclops kitten like this ONCE ever... and that was on the internet. He was born alive and survived only a short time. This was a horribly sad experience, but very intriguing to us all. A short bit after Cleyed was delivered, the third baby was removed and she was a beautiful healthy baby."

According to Wikipedia Cyclopia "is a a rare form of holoprosencephaly and is a congenital disorder (birth defect) characterized by the failure of the embryonic prosencephalon to properly divide the orbits of the eye into two cavities."

Cleyed's owner also wrote that the kitten was born sans nose and Cleyed had no eyelid at all which meant he had to keep his eye open.
