'Call of Duty' 2017 Fans Can Bid Farewell To Futuristic Settings And Might Follow 'Battlefield 1' Example

“Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare” may not be necessarily the worst COD game in the series, but the teaser trailer for it became wildly popular on YouTube for getting 2.6 million dislikes. If anything, creators of the game might have gotten the fans' messages and are shifting back to what “Call of Duty” games are originally made of in 2017.

Just a day ago, WccFtech posted news regarding a very important update in the “Call of Duty” series. This involves Sledgehammer's new year greeting and a not so subtle hint of the franchise's return to its roots. The video posted shows a simple greeting and an old engine that technically represents the former technology in the past.

This could be a mere coincidence, but Infinity Ward released another teaser image, which happens to be also posted at Geeks ULTD contains the company's Christmas and New Year greetings, but slapping in a Colt M1911 pistol means a lot. This is a common side arm used by the military back in the World War 1 and 2 eras. It still exists today and this hints that the creators of “Call of Duty” is finally back on its original path.

After the “Modern Warfare” series from the franchise and the first “Black Ops” entry, “Call of Duty” started leaning on highly-futuristic settings. This gave way to “Advanced Warfare” and eventually, “Infinite Warfare” and these two games didn't get a lot of fans' approval as compared to the earlier entries in the series. This can be easily observed through online communities and Meta Critic reviews.

Truth to be told, a significant amount of “Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare” purchases were due to the bundle. This was the fourth official entry in the series and one of the most highly regarded titles in the series. Hopefully, fans get to see more of the same product value with what's to come for “Call of Duty 2017.”
