Furious Mariah Carey Wants A Full Investigation on New Year's Eve Gaffe

Mariah Carey is reportedly furious over her embarrassing mishap on New Year's Eve and wants to get to the bottom of the situation. The 47-year old pop star was embarrassed on-stage after some technical difficulties revealed she was lip-synching her 1991 hit "Emotions."

After the botch, Carey told the audience, "I wanted a holiday too, can't I just have one?" before she stormed off the stage. The Grammy winning diva now believes that there was some "foul play" involved in her performance and wants to launch a full investigation, according to a report from The Sun.

A source close to the pop star says that Mariah is "fuming" over the incident and has been feeling upset about it for the last couple of days. The source also goes to add that Carey believes someone intentionally tried to sabotage her performance to make her look bad and will not let the incident go.

On Sunday, the "Butterfly" singer accused Dick Clark Productions of sabotaging her performance - a claim that the production company described as "silly", according to TMZ. Nicole Perna, a spokesperson for Carey, claims that the singer had been set up to fail in front of millions of people, and that she experienced no problems during rehearsals. In an interview with Billboard, Perna claims that Mariah was not "winging" the moment and was taking everything seriously.

Carey's manager, Stella Bulochnikov , believes that ABC producers continued to air the singer's botched performance instead of cutting to a commercial break in order to boost their ratings. Stella says they had told producers three times that the singer's mic pack was not working. "They did not cut to a commercial. They did not cut the West Coast feed. They left her out there to get ratings", she added.

Carey currently has her own reality show titled "Mariah's World" and recently broke up with her billionaire boyfriend, 49-year old James Packer, in November of last year.
