This initial passing-on of duties has been done and decided by the Queen three years ago. She has even stopped long travels. She still has enough to make her hands full of the royal duties. At 90, she is no longer capable as she used to. She still sits as patron of hundreds of organization but now with the aid of other family members.

They opted to live in the countryside as Prince William is media-shy and does not to expose his family to too much public attention. This can be favorable to the couple as they assume royal duties that will increase once the Queen retires next year.
