Man Who Saved Eddie Vedder Gets $70,000 Donation From Pearl Jam

An amount of $70,000 has been donated to Keith Baxter's fundraiser at a funding site called Gofundme. The grunge band Pearl Jam was responsible for the generous donation to the man who once saved Eddie Vedder.

According to an article in Rolling Stone, Vedder encountered a boating accident fifteen years ago. Vedder was sailing on the Pailolo Channel when the canoe he was on overturned. Vedder was also with along five others in the canoe.

Vedder and the other members were alongside the boat until a mast broke, allowing half the group to get on board. As Vedder and two others were trying to get on board, a gust of wind pushed the boat from their reach.

Keith and his daughter Ashley Baxter happened to be along the area, when Ashley heard the voices in the water. Keith and Ashley were able to rescue the crew, saving the lives of Vedder and five others.

Recently, Keith has encountered a boating accident where his leg was nearly severed by a rusty anchor. His leg was infected and required medical care.

After the accident, Ashley had a chance to meet Kacky Ovrom Chamberlain. Kacky was one of the five that Keith saved along with Vedder. Kacky then setup a fundraiser to help Keith raise $70,000 for the medical bills.

An article from Billboard stated that the $70,000 goal was achieved by the fundraiser even without the donation from Pearl Jam. However, Pearl Jam matched the total donation, with each member giving $14,000 each. All four donations were contributed anonymously, but one was credited to Stone Grossard, the guitarist.

Along with Pearl Jam's donation, a total of $146,004 has been accumulated in a span of 7 months. The Baxter family has been thankful of all the donations and Keith is now on the road to recovery to get full movement on his foot.
