"Pokemon Sun/Moon" and "Final Fantasy XV" are Amazon's best-selling games for the holidays. Astonishingly, no "Call of Duty" game was found in the list of Amazon's holiday video game bestsellers.
With Christmas over, most shopping has already been done. Now that all the spending has died down, Amazon has provided information on which products were the top sellers in various categories throughout the site during this past holiday shopping season.
For video games, it was the "Pokemon Sun/Moon" and "Final Fantasy XV" which topped the category. No specific sales figures were released by Amazon.
According to gaming website GameSpot, the online retail giant only mentioned that "Pokemon Sun and Moon" and "Pokemon" for Nintendo 3DS and "Final Fantasy XV" for the PS4 were the three highest-selling games on their store. Amazon also did not give any specific dates that are covered in their statement but the assumption is that it begins from the Black Friday week and goes through Christmas day.
Nintendo already had announced previously that "Pokemon Sun and Moon" had broken records for the fastest-selling Nintendo games in different regions throughout the world. By virtue of the games' strong launch, it wasn't a surprise then to find out that the latest Pokemon games were one of the top sellers on Amazon during the holiday shopping rush.
Square Enix also announced previously that "Final Fantasy XV" had also set the record for the fastest start of a game in the history of the "Final Fantasy" series by shipping 5 million copies around the world after its release. It should be noted though that those figures were for games that were shipped but not yet sold and previous games were not released at the same time worldwide as this current "Final Fantasy" game did.
Gaming website Game Rant reported that it was astonishing that no "Call of Duty" game placed on the bestseller list for video games on the Amazon store. Games from the "Call of Duty" franchise has always been the highest seller during the period surrounding their launch. "Call Of Duty: Infinite Warfare" has been struggling in comparison with its predecessors in the franchise even though it topped the NPD's US sales charts for November.
