Travel Tips: New Year Do's and Don’ts for Solo Travelers

Many would suggest going carpe diem and #YOLO on trips, but avid travelers should know better. Now that the New Year is finally here what resolutions should everybody put in mind when traveling solo?

Do Always go with a plan

No matter how short noticed or sudden an outing could be, it would always be best to go with a plan. It would help a traveler avoid getting lost, putting himself in danger and even losing precious time not knowing what to do or where to go.

Try searching for places during your down time, like while waiting for the plane to arrive, while on a bus, or even before going to sleep. Fobes lists a number of websites that provides reviews from other travelers about a restaurant or a hotel in your destination.

Don't Say No to the Food

There is a number of very interesting exotic food that can be found in different parts of the world, Elite Readers lists Balut from South East Asia, Tuna Eye Balls from Japan and Bat Soup from Thailand as a few favorites.

When traveling to a place that serves exotic food, it would always be a story to tell when you try it. If you are already in that dream adventure that you have always planned to have, why not go all out?

Do Let go of Technology

One of the reasons why people is so that they could take a break. Technology cuts a person from connecting with his physical world. Letting go of technology momentarily cuts that link between a traveler from calls, emails, and even social media.

If you're just going to spend time taking pictures of the scenery, then go home, go online and just search for the photos. Be in the moment, it may be the best weekend decision you have ever made.
