'Pokemon Sun/Moon' News: New Global Mission Has A Better Chance Of Success

The next global mission of "Pokemon Sun/Moon" has been unveiled. Fans expect that the second mission will be more successful this time. The goal of the second global event is for players to find 1 million Pokemon using the Island Scan feature.

According to gaming website GameSpot, the second global mission starts December 27.The initial global challenge was not successful. The debut Global Mission in Pokemon Sun/Moon did not achieve its announced goals.

The first limited-time global event from earlier this month took place from November 29 to December 13. The challenge to players around the world was for everyone to catch or defeat a combined 100 million Pokemon. It seemed achievable but in the end, the final count fell far short of the target with only 16.5 million Pokemon caught.

The next attempt at a global mission should have a better chance at success since it offers more rewards for a smaller objective. The next challenge starts December 27 and ends on January 29. The second challenge will only need players worldwide to catch or defeat 1 million Pokemon. The Pokemon must be found through the Island Scan feature in order to count.

Island Scan is a new feature that becomes accessible after earning 100 points from scanning 10 QR codes within the game. Using Island Scan, players can summon a specific Pokemon which then need to be found and caught or defeated in order for it to be counted towards the final objective.

To join, players need to hit "Festival Plaza" from the touch-screen menu and then walk to the castle. A woman inside and located to the right, will prepare players for the Global Mission.

The second global challenge will start on December 27 4:00 UTC (8PM Monday December 26 PST | 11:00 PM EST). The event will end on January 9, 2017 at 23:59 UTC.

Gaming website Destructoid reported that if the mission is successful and at least 1 million Pokemon are caught, all players will earn 2,017 Festival Coins. If the event is not successful then everyone will receive only 217 FC. If any player's account is connected to the Pokemon Global Link, they will earn double of what they are supposed to get after participating in the Pokemon Sun and Moon Global Mission.
