Amsterdam is a beautiful city enriched with their own culture, an inviting vibe that sends travelers all over the world to experience its beauty. Their most visited attraction? The Heineken Experience, a museum devoted to Heineken's rich history with their world-famous beer. The place was converted from the company's old brewery built in 1867.
To date, the Heineken experience welcomed over 1 million visitors, with the numbers still expected to increase by the end of 2016. The museum was first opened in 1991, after the beer company constructed their new facility on the outskirts of Amsterdam.
It was first named as "Heineken Treat and Information Centre" but changed its name to "Heineken Experience" in 2001. After a year's worth of renovations and new installations to the place, Heineken Experience was once again reopened to the public in 2008.
The four-storey visitor center offers unique tours and activities dedicated to Heineken way before when it was first built. The multimedia exhibits show old Heineken beer commercials and scoops on the brand's manufacturing, from the evolution of their brand logo up to the brewing process of their beer.
Meanwhile, the old brewery set-up is still on display, with their vintage brewing equipment and tall malt silos. You can also see their old fermentation tanks, capable of storing up to a million glasses of Heineken beers.
Visitors can also experience the "Stable Walk", where the video screens show the Heineken's shire horses, traditionally used to deliver beer in Amsterdam during the old times. They can also ride on an old brewery dray-wagon simulated ride pulled by the Shire horses on the screens, where it will take you on a short tour of Amsterdam.
But perhaps the museum's most unique activity is their 4D adventure called "Brew Your Ride", where visitors can feel what's it like to be a Heineken beer bottle. At the end of every visit, a tasting bar awaits visitors on free Heineken beer tasting sessions. Please be reminded that visitors below 18 years old are not served any alcoholic beverages.
Heinekin Experience is open from Monday to Sunday starting 10:30 am, and is located on Stadhouderskade, at Ferdinand Bolstraat. So for beer lovers out there, this is the ultimate destination for you.
