Glamping in New York City: Manhattan Hotels Offer 'Glamping' Packages

Sleeping under a starry night sky is one of the most romantic, and peaceful, activities a person can have. But for those that are more into concrete jungles than actual ones, a number of New York City hotels are offering "glamping," or, "glamorous camping," for its guests.

The luxuries of a hotel suite combined with an outdoor oasis for sleeping under the city sky is exactly what AKA at Central Park West in the Upper East Side is offering. The luxury residences provide the full glamping experience including a telescope, an e-reader for campfire stories, scented candles and of course, s'mores provided by Jacques Torres and cocktails. Rates start at $1,999 per night.

At Affinia Gardens in the Upper East Side, the package is a kid friendly 600 square foot terrace off the hotel room. The package comes equipped with a s'mores kit, a tent with sleeping bags, a flashlight and binoculars. For the parents, spa services are available upon request. Costs start from $309 per night.

The Hyatt 48 Lex Suite in Midtown offers a glamping package that is geared towards couples hankering for a romantic getaway. The staff sets up an aero-bed on the terrace with full bedding, a bottle of fwine and a picnic from Dean & Deluca. Books and lanterns are also available to add to the ambiance.

The hotel's website states, "A canvas backpack comes picnic-ready with all of the accoutrements. Inside are two glasses, two plates, utensils, a bottle opener, a cooler compartment, and a host of comestibles including Creminelli Casalingo Salami, Carmody Cheese, DEAN & DELUCA Diced Fruit Blend, DEAN & DELUCA Basil & Roasted Pepper Bruschetta, Fig & Olive Raincoast Crisps, McEvoy Tuscan Table Olives and Cornichons in Vinegar. " Prices start from $509 per night.
