"Growing Pains" patriarch Jason Seaver actor Alan Thicke died of heart attack at the Providence Saint Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, California. He was 69-year-old and father of "Blurred Lines" singer Robin Thicke. His memorial service was attended by his family, friends, co-workers and other celebrities including Leonardo DiCaprio, who got to work with him in the last few episodes of "Growing Pains," which ran from 1985 until 1992.
Other stars who joined his family in his memorial were Alex Trebek, Kevin Costner, David Foster, Bill Maher, Bob Saget, Luc Robitaille, Paul Mitchell, Barry Bonds, Kris Jenner, Kirk Cameron and the entire cast of Growing Pains. According to ET, a source reported that there were about 150 people who attended the service which was done at the Thickes' Carpinteria, California ranch.
Thicke's son and "Blurred Lines" singer, Robin Thicke, hosted the memorial service, and along with his two brothers they welcomed the guests and stated specifically that they would like something "upbeat and beautiful" to commemorate their father's life. A Facebook message including photos from the memorial service was uploaded by Thicke's daughter-in-law Dolly, which stated that the memorial was perfect and that it was attended by so many friends and family.
Alan Thicke had a median sternotomy, a surgery that involves an incision vertically made along the sternum, on December 13. This gave access to the lungs and the heart, however, Thicke did not survive and time of death was 2:14 p.m. that day. According to ET via AOL, they were able to obtain the official death certificate of the Canadian actor and the cause of death was a "standard type A aortic dissection" and "a ruptured aorta."
Aside from his cause of death, included in his death certificate was the interval between the time of death from the onset of the ruptured aorta which was just in minutes. The time between his death from the aortic dissection was tagged as three hours.
Fondly known for his role as the supportive and loving father in ABC's 1980s television series in the 1980s, Jason Seaver rose to stardom and spread his wings as both actor and musician. He was also a game show as well as a talk show host.
