When it comes to places that you'd want to spend New Year's Eve, Dublin, the capital of the Republic of Ireland, would probably not be in your top 10 list. But that will change this year as the Irish capital will be having a three-day event to celebrate the festivities.
"New Year's Festival Dublin" will be taking place on the 30th of December 2016 until the 1st of January 2017. The Irish capital has all sorts of events lined up for the locals and the tourist in various parts of the city during the three-day event.
An example of an event is the Luminosity show, where Dublin's iconic Custom House is turned into a video canvass for tourists and locals to watch the dazzling show of colour, light and sound. The light show event, which is free of charge, will happen on all during the three-day event and will start at 5 p.m. until 10 p.m.
The city will also have a countdown concert on the 31st which will be held in St. Stephen's Green South, which is in the heart of Dublin. The concert in the public park will start at 8 p.m. and will feature bands such as "Walking on Cars," "The Blizzards," and more. Tickets for the concert are priced at €27.90 ($29.16) each, which already includes the booking fee.
Tourists and locals will also have a chance to enjoy ThoseFireguys, Ireland's fire performance group, the Dublin Circus Project, which will perform acrobatic acts, and more in its Pop Up Event. The event will happen during the three-day event and will take place in the city centre locations.
The Telegraph said that this event shows Dublin has learned something in the course of the last few years in terms of attracting more tourists. And with the Dublin's three-day New Year Festival, there's now a reason for tourists to visit the area, aside from asking their significant other to marry them.
