Flying on Christmas Day can be a bit sad, as Christmas is supposed to be spent with our families while enjoying festive dinners and opening up Christmas gifts. Because of this, Virgin Atlantic, one of the world' s most trusted airlines, has decided to give their passengers a massive Christmas treat.
All Virgin Atlantic passengers between December 24 and 26 will be entitled to a complimentary three-course Christmas dinner. And nope, even passengers in the economy class can enjoy this special holiday meal.
Of course, perks of being the in the upper class include higher upgrades, so aside from the three-course dinner, passengers in Upper Class or Premium Economy can also enjoy drinking winter-themed cocktails from the airlines' menu during their flight. Merry Christmas indeed.
In a statement, Jill Brady, Virgin Atlantic's Executive Vice president For Customers said: "We're looking forward to welcoming thousands of customers on board our flights this Christmas as they travel to be with friends, family or to escape the crowds on a relaxing break."
"To make our customers journey that little bit more special we're serving Christmas dinners on board all flights to the US, South Africa, Asia, and UAE. We started developing the special festive menus in June to ensure we're providing an extra tasty treat for everyone traveling with us this Christmas,"Brady adds.
Virgin Atlantic's special Christmas Dinner consists of tomato and basil soup for starters, roasted turkey (or filet of beef) with roast potatoes as the main course, and tasty Christmas pudding for dessert. All of these will be enjoyed by passengers while they are thousands of feet in the air.
Based on Virgin Atlantic's estimated calculation, over 27,000 passengers will be boarding their flights this Christmas vacation. Therefore, over 4,400 pounds of turkey, 100,000 sprouts, and 82,000 roast potatoes are expected to be served on the duration of their Christmas dinner treat.
The Virgin Atlantic team started preparing their menus way back in June, according to Jill Brady. This is to ensure that all passengers will get top-notch service and a tasty Christmas dinner while aboard their flights.
