Olympic gold medalist snowboarder and start of the X Games, Shaun White was charged with vandalizing a Nashville hotel and public intoxication, leaving him in the hospital after a head injury.
On early Sunday morning, White, 26, seemed to have had a bit too much to drink as he caused a scene at the LoewsVanderbilt Hotel on West End Avenue in Nashville, where he was staying. Police reported to the hotel at 2 a.m. after they received a call about an intoxicated man who pulled the hotel's fire alarm, causing a hotel evacuation. A hotel employee also says that White destroyed a hotel phone.
According to a police report, White attempted to flee the hotel by cab but a citizen stopped him and told the cab driver that he was calling police. White allegedly kicked the citizen and started to run away. The citizen chased after him. White turned and ran into the man, causing him to fall backward and hit his head on a fence.
White was taken to Baptist Hospital to be treated and was released on Monday. White was arrested and booked by police upon his release. He refused to sign misdemeanor citations, which led to his arrest. Police took a mug shot of White who sports a black eye. White was released on his own recognizance and he is set to appear in court on Oct. 10.
This isn't the first time White has caused troubled at a hotel. He was cited for discharging a fire extinguisher in a hotel in Breckenridge, Colo. in 2007.
