Nerlens Noel has been a part of NBA trade rumors since he underwent knee surgery back in October. The Sixers center has been out of the rotation for a couple of months which is why the franchise might move him before the trade deadline. Recently, there have been trading rumors about the Toronto Raptors showing interest in Noel but would it be a good move for them?
76ers General Manager Bryan Colangelo recently addressed the issue regarding Noel and the team's crowded frontcourt. According to ESPN, Colangelo said that there's just a lot of talent in the team that's why Noel hasn't been getting enough playing time lately. Noel even expressed his frustrations that the team isn't doing anything to solve the frontcourt issues.
This led to NBA trade rumors that Noel could possibly get traded before the trade deadline in February. The Portland Trailblazers could be a good landing spot for him but the Boston Celtics have also shown interest in the big man.
But according to Fox Sports, NBA trade rumors have it that the Raptors are also trying to make a move in getting Noel. The Raptors are currently at the 2nd seed in the Eastern Conference and has a big chance of getting back into the playoffs. They made it to last season's Eastern Conference finals but lost to the Cavaliers in six games.
Raptors starting center Jonas Valancuinas got injured and didn't play in game 1 of the Cavaliers-Raptors series last season. This cost the Raptors a lot because they didn't have anyone to fill in for his spot.
It may be a good decision to add Noel to the Raptors roster if ever the same problems would happen again, but with Noel's health, it may be a risk that they would take. The Raptors don't have any trade-worthy pieces that the 76ers might want.
If the Raptors really want Noel, they could wait until next season where he would become a restricted free agent. They could get Noel since it's unlikely that the 76ers would match an offer for Noel. But it's still early for these NBA trade rumors to die down because the trade deadline is still two months away.
