Apple CEO Tim Cook said the tech giant still includes desktops in its "roadmap." Cook said Apple would be developing desktops in the future in response to growing employee concerns and the absence of Apple desktop products in 2016.
According to Huffington Post India, Cook said in an employee message board that "great desktops" are coming and that "folks in the media" concerned about Apple's commitment to desktops should not be as Apple still has desktops in its "roadmap." Cook said it was because the Mac desktop was a great product to manufacture for Apple because it was "unique compared to the notebook" as the company can develop a better performance with desktops in terms of processing speeds, storage, and viewability.
According to Ars Technica, it is possible the iMac -- Apple's line of desktops -- did not get any treatment this year because processor manufacturer and developer Intel has failed to cope with its slow speed in developing the world's newest available processors despite their age. Ars Technica also noted that Apple's laptop line of Mac Mini and Mac Pro has not reduced in price points despite having the same specs in the last few years.
It is true that fans and customers of Apple await its newest iPhone and smart device releases. This year it revolutionized the iPhone 7 by removing the standard 3.5mm audio jack used to insert traditional wired headphones for music -- much to the awe and disappointment of customers. For every iPhone iteration, Apple has done well to improve the specifications and quality of their products.
Just six days ago, the first-generation Apple Watch has gone on sale with many retailers such as B&H and BGR. Both companies are offering different variations of the Apple Watch that costs about $199 to $550 -- a huge reduction from its starting price of $299.
