So what do Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Iron Man, a.k.a. Tony Stark have in common? Besides being a genius, billionaire, playboy and philanthropist (well, scratch playboy for Zuckerberg), they now both have Iron Man's AI, a Jarvis System called, well, Jarvis.
The Facebook co-founder, Mark Zuckerberg, unveiled his latest home improvement project by installing his very own Jarvis system in his house. The Jarvis system is an AI (artificial intelligence) virtual assistant system inspired by the Robert Downey Jr.'s movie series Iron Man.
Mark Zuckerberg unveiled the Jarvis System by posting a video of the AI in action via his Facebook page. In Zuckerberg's Facebook video, Jarvis has the voice of Morgan Freeman and helps in managing the Zuckerberg household. The Jarvis System is an AI virtual assistant that Zuckerberg can access through his mobile device or computer to control several functions in his house. The Jarvis System, when prompted, can control the lights, music, security, temperature, appliances in the household.
With Mark Zuckerberg's success in integrating his Jarvis System in his own home, the race for AI virtual assistants is on. Amazon Echo and Google Home Speakers are examples of these new AI devices which are linked to virtual assistants to control networked devices.
According to Mark Zuckerberg, he wants to continue the development of his Jarvis System. The Facebook CEO and co-founder maintains that he wants to "explore teaching Jarvis how to learn new skills" instead of having to teach the AI "how to perform specific tasks."
Mark Zuckerberg is expecting that the AI technology will improve in the years to come. While the Jarvis system has proven that it can perform simple tasks already, the AI system is still in its infancy.
Given more time, Mark Zuckerberg can enhance the Jarvis system in a way that Tony Stark in the Iron Man movies never could. After all, visions like these are what made Zuckerberg the billionaire that he is today. Just don't make Arnold Schwarzenegger the default AI voice for Jarvis please, Morgan Freeman will do.
