MTV announced that the hit reality TV show that brought eight 'guidettes' and 'guidos' to fame, Jersey Shore, is on its last season. One cast member, Deena Cortese, 25, is making the most of her shore days and has subsequently been banned from a restaurant for two years.
Spicy Cantina & Mexican Grill in Seaside Heights has been fined by New Jersey liquor regulators $15,000 for serving the obviously drunk Deena.
As a conditional agreement negotiated between the restaurant, Cortese is banned from the restaurant for two years.
Allegedly, party 'guidette' Deena had an entourage with her including the MTV film crew on June 10 at the restaurant. For 90 minutes Deena's awesome antics included walking on the bar, falling on the ground and climbing on a bench at a table of other restaurant patrons.
She then left the restaurant-drink in hand, naturally, which is apparently illegal. Deena was arrested by Seaside Heights police for disorderly conduct and she was seen by police running out of Spicy Cantina and into the street where she started drunk dancing in the intersection.
Michael Halfacre New Jersey's Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control Director said to the AP, "This settlement is a cautionary tale for licensees who might think ignoring the law for the sake of air time is good for business. By turning a blind eye to the mayhem that can be associated with reality television, you are risking your livelihood. That is, without a doubt, bad for business."
Denna pleaded guilty for failing to use the sidewalk a month later at a municipal court appearance and paid a $106 fine. In the settlement with the state, Spicy Cantina also admitted to serving Deena drinks that she didn't order, which is illegal in the state.
MTV's last and final season of the "Jersey Shore" starts October 4 on MTV.
