Gamers are looking forward for the "Pokémon Go" Christmas Event especially that there was a November event. But as Christmas draws near, there isn't any confirmation or announcement from Niantic yet about the Christmas Event. Instead, there is a new update which might actually be the December surprise.
"As we race towards 2017, we wanted to take a moment and thank you for your support," developer Niantic said in a statement. "We’re excited for December because we have a few new experiences and in-game events planned for you before wrapping up the year."
This announcement definitely made fans excited. To recall, there was a November and Thanksgiving event and because of that, many are expecting for a Christmas event. But is that bound to happen?
The new "Pokémon Go" update features a festive makeover for its most iconic creature, Pikachu. There will be a Santa Pikachu that gamers can catch starting Dec. 20-29. But that's not all.
According to Mirror UK, Niantic confirmed that there will be double XP offer for trainers over Christmas. Aside from that, the start-up screen also changed wherein Snorlax, Clefairy and Squirtle are putting up some Christmas decorations while Pikachu, who is wearing a Santa hat, used his power to light up the tree.
Some new characters will also be coming including Pichu, Togepi and Magby which will hatch from eggs. Other players are hoping that some legendary Pokémon will be made available like Pokémon Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres and Mewtwo.
Players who are still on a hunt for more Pokémon are anticipating for more characters to add to their collection. After the release of Ditto into the game, gamers are hoping for more Pokémon.
Meanwhile, the latest update of the game for "Pokémon Go" Version 1.21.0 for iOS and 0.51.0 for Android is a bug fix to stop incorrect vibration notifications which happens even without a Pokémon around, Heavy reported. Day and night modes were also fixed so it will be more accurate to the trainer's time.
