Russian Ambassador To Turkey Andrei Karlov Shot Dead By Turkish Policeman In Front Of Crowd

Russian Ambassador to Turkey was killed by a gunshot wound from a supposedly former Turkish cop known as Mevlut Mert Aydintas. Andrei Karlov was rushed to the hospital but did not make it.

According to a recent report by BBC, the attacker shot the ambassador at least twice right before Karlov was done with his speech. Numerous reports suggest that the assailant's motive is connected with Russia's involvement with the recent terrorism in Aleppo.

The shooting incident took place in an opening ceremony at a photo exhibition called "Russia as Seen by the Turks," which was a day after the protests in Turkey about Russia's support for the President of Syria. The Russian Ambassador was shot dead in front of a crowd while screaming "don't forget Aleppo."

Aljazeera also reported that the killer smashed several exhibition photos before letting the other guests in the event go. However, a gunfight took place shortly after injuring at least three people. Fortunately, none of them were killed.

The assassin heavily emphasized the events at Aleppo, stating that nobody should forget about Syria. He also mentioned that whoever took part in that terrorism will pay the price one after the other and finally threatening everyone that only his death will stop him while waving his handgun.

Both Russian president Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan agreed that the assassination of Karlov was an act of "provocation." Despite this, they still see through this and assured that the relation between the two countries will not be harmed.

The attack was immediately condemned by a number of countries including the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, and France, which worsened the battle for Syria's future involving a significant increase in public fear. With this in mind, a recent terror attack also struck Berlin with a truck rummaging through a Christmas market, leaving 12 deaths and 48 injuries. A suspect was caught 2km away from the scene and is being interrogated.

The Turkish officials are putting the blame at the recently failed coup against Mr. Erdogan. The Russian Foreign Ministry vowed to an immediate and thorough investigation will be at hand soon to punish the someone who's responsible behind this.
