The day that all Apple fans have been waiting for is here. At an announcement event on September 12, Apple is expected to reveal the new iPhone 5 as well as its release date, among other Apple products at the event at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco. Some sources will offer a live video stream coverage and commentary of the event for Apple fans to follow.
The Apple announcement event is set to begin at 10:00 a.m. PT / 1:00 p.m. ET. Apple's CEO Tim Book will take to the stage and will reveal details about the latest iPhone. Rumors have been circulating for months about the new iPhone, so there will be certain things that people will take note of.
One of the things that will be revealed is the name. Many are expecting the new iPhone to be called the iPhone 5, but after the iPhone 4S, the new phone will technically be the sixth phone that Apple has released since 2007. In Apple's event invitation, a graphic contained the number "5" in the shadow of the event date, so it is likely that the new phone will have the iPhone 5 name.
Supposed leaked photos and rumors have said the the new iPhone will contain certain features. Some of these include a longer, 4-inch display, a new dock connector with either 19 pins of 8 pins as opposed to the classic 30 pins, fast LTE data speeds and more. All of these rumors will be confirmed or denied during the event.
The release date of the new iPhone will also be revealed. Strong evidence suggests that the release date will be September 21. This is highly likely as Apple traditionally releases their products two Fridays after the announcement. Customers should be able to start pre-ordering the phone on Sept. 12, after the announcement.
Some other things that Apple may announce in iOS 6, a possible iPad Mini, and updates to their iPod products.
