Morgan Freeman's death hoax has been lingering on the internet for days, even though the actor has confirmed to be alive. Last week, the 75-year-old legend had been another victim of a celebrity death hoax that spread like wildfire via social media.
There was a Facebook page titled, "R.I.P Morgan Freeman" that is believed to have started the death rumor.
Other sites such as Necropedia.org, said "Morgan Freeman, born on June 1, 1937 in Memphis, was an American actor. He died on September 9, 2012, at the age of 75," further spreading the rumor and causing alarm.
Even though the rumor has long since been confirmed a hoax, his death is still trending around the internet. Quickly after the hoax started a rep for the "Dark Night Rises" actor confirmed it to be fake saying to E!, "Morgan is alive and well, and joins the long list of actors who have been victimized by this hoax. He's still alive and well, stop believing what you see on the Internet."
Many people, are surprisingly still searching the web for news of Freeman's death and people continue to comment on Twitter in surprise and mourning of his death.
The actor joins the ranks of another illustrious group of individuals who have all fall victim of the internet death hoax. Recents include Alfonso Ribeiro or "Carlton" from the show, "Fresh Prince of Bel Air," Eddie Murphy, Bill Cosby, Adam Sandler and others who have all been victim to the same hoax.
