Carnival Cruise's All You Can Drink Alcohol Package Expands

Carnival has expanded its recently launched "all you can drink" alcohol package to a second ship. The Carnival Splendor, which is Long Beach, California based has joined its predecessor, Carnival Victory in offering the all you can drink package.

The package runs for $42.95 per day and gives travelers unlimited access to wine, beer, spirits, sodas and non alcoholic frozen cocktails.

The program called, the "My Awesome Bar Program" costs $42.95 plus $6.44 gratuity and can be used to order any alcoholic drinks $10 and under. Full bottles of wine and champagnes and drinks priced over $10 are available at a 25 percent discount.

Passengers must be 21 years and older and each cabin mate must purchase a separate package. The move to all you can drink comes after rival Royal Caribbean had a similar package on three of its ships. Celebrity Cruises also added a similar package to all its cruises in 2010.

Carnival's move comes a year after rival Royal Caribbean rolled out similar alcohol packages on three ships based overseas. Celebrity Cruises added beverage packages that include alcoholic drinks fleetwide in 2010.

Passengers can sign up for the program at Carnival Victory's casino bars, atrium and the main pool bar. No word as of yet as to whether Carnival is going to be rolling out the program to all it's cruise ships.
