Coca Cola, known for its sugary sweet soft drinks, has a new drink coming onto the market, that is different from its counterparts. All it takes is a few squirts with its new product, Dasani Drops.
Coca Cola, is the world's largest beverage company and is introducing the new drops to the market in the next few weeks. With just a squeeze, water becomes flavored in a variety of fruity concoctions.
John Roddey, vice president of Coca-Cola's water, tea and coffee business in North America said to the Associated Press, "I think there's an opportunity beyond just flavored waters."
Roddey mentioned that the next plan for the drops could be in tea. Coca Cola hopes that with its small portable size that can fit in purses and pockets and is easily squirted into water unlike powdered drink mixes that can be messy. It also means that a small bottle contains more than two dozen servings, which saves individuals money in the long run than buying flavor enhanced waters.
The drops have zero calories and use artificial sweeteners. Roddey told the AP that Coca Cola has plans on making the drops available wherever Dasani bottled water is sold.
"We're looking to make this as broad as we can," he said.
Other companies that have sold similar products include Kraft Food Inc's MiO which was introduced in 2011.
The drops will cost approximately $4 and will be sold as early as October. The company is starting with four flavors but might expand to additional flavors next year.
