"The Crown" is a royal drama from Netflix which is critically acclaimed. The show even debuted with multiple award nominations, and fans can't wait what season 2 will cover.
But according to rumors, actress Claire Foy won't be returning for the second season, despite the show's huge success. Some talks surfaced that Foy wants to get paid more but Netflix is not giving in to this demand.
"After two seasons, that's it, I'm gone," Foy told Vulture. "They're getting rid of all of us. I don't [know] how they're planning on doing it, but they're such an incredible bunch of directors and producers that it's gonna be different and exciting."
But it appears that these are just rumors. Express confirmed that Foy, along with actor Matt Smith, who plays Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, are confirmed to return to the royal drama. Season 2 will pick kick off with the couple at war and Philip exiled to Australia.
Netflix has a six-year plan for this pricy drama, and some rumors say that "Transformers" star, Megan Fox, will soon be a part of the cast as a new character, and that Foy is allegedly threatened with Fox joining the series. With all these talks surfacing, it is said that even Queen Elizabeth is confused of the show's current changes.
Netflix is still to confirm all these talks. Up until now, it is not clear whether the producers would opt to recast central roles or use aging prosthetics to keep Foy, Smith, Kirby et al. around, Harper's Bazaar reported. Foy has been quoted saying, "there'll be no 3 AM makeup call for me!"
"The Crown" season 2 has already started filming. Foy confirmed that it "will go through another ten years' time." The new run of episodes will cover the period between 1955 and 1965 and will introduce some historical figures that are new to the show.
