A new Atlantis Resort will finally make its way to the US, but developers planned to build the extravagant resort on Ko Olina on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. Atlantis Resorts are famous for its luxurious, ocean-themed resorts, with roots in Dubai and another set to open in China next year.
An agreement was settled between China Oceanwide and top resort developer Kerzner International Holdings, with The Resort Group also onboard for the incoming multi-million hotel project.
The deal was confirmed by Hawaii developer Jeff Stone last Thursday, and it's said that no expense will be spared for the new US Atlantis Resort. The project was first planned and announced way back in 2005, and since many years have passed before any deals were made, the project was thought to be scrapped. But now, it seems that everything is finalized.
Set to be an "international destination for millennial travelers", the resort will sit on a 26-acre space overlooking the Honu and Kohola Lagoons. 800 guestrooms with suites are planning to be built, and of course, the iconic Atlantis water entertainments like the Aquaventure Waterpark, Ambassador Lagoon and The Lost Chambers Aquarium will be included.
Guests will also enjoy several luxurious amenities that will cater to their every need, from private pools to high-end spas. Although the final project cost hasn't been announced yet, the whole venture is estimated to be worth around $2 billion.
Jean-Gabriel Pérès, President and Chief Executive Officer of Kerzner International said in a statement: "Atlantis resorts are iconic entertainment destinations that significantly contribute to the surrounding community, and Hawaii will be no exception. Ko Olina is an incredible project with exceptional partners in global leaders China Oceanwide and The Resort Group."
"Atlantis will astonish and amaze, as well as celebrate the history and culture of Hawaii. An unsurpassed location will provide endless wonders, with its magnificent sense of discovery, whilst also pioneering previously unseen experiences. I am proud we are bringing Atlantis, a must-see resort, to O'ahu."
Local residents are also looking forward to this new hotel project. This will bring many jobs and other economic opportunities to their island, and of course, it's another fantastic boost to the tourism industry of Oahu, Hawaii.
