The show may have ended two years ago, but we are still not over How I Met Your Mother. This incredibly funny show with lots of surprising life lessons, and we are always on the lookout for news involving our favorite characters, Ted, Lilly, Marshall, Robin, and Barney.
Good news then fellow HIMYM fans! Another spin-off is currently in development, and this time, it seems that everything is falling into place. There actually is a first spin-off planned called How I Met Your Dad, starring Greta Gerwig with a voice over from Meg Ryan. However, CBS decided not to run the series, and although the production team hasn't entirely given up on the idea, the plan eventually fell through.
But now, we heard a new spin-off project is currently on the way, but the show is now titled "How I Met Your Father." It has a similar premise to the original season, which lasted for nine seasons, but everything is now from the Mother's perspective. The original characters of the show are not coming back though, and this is a fresh new take from the project's writers, Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, who both wrote the script for the NBC/20th TV series, "This Is Us."
Carter Bays and Craig Thomas, the original show's creators, are also keen on the new project. It has been speculated that they're both going to be executive producers for the new show, but since they are on a current deal with Sony, they couldn't have any involvement with the production.
As far as we know, nothing has been finalized yet-aside from the show's title and some production team members. But let's hope that they don't give up on this one, just like the first spin-off pilot (How I Met Your Dad), and that everything will be legen...wait for it....dary!
