Barbie is going on a cruise. No, a luxury yacht is not the latest Barbie accessory.Royal Caribbean is introducing Barbie to their ships by adding Barbie-theme activities and a special "Barbie Premium Experience" for kids.
The top-seeling Mattel doll will be the latest character to join Royal Caribbean's ships to add the the cast of character, such as Shrek and Fiona, that kids can meet while on board. As part of the children's program on board, kids can also participate in new Barbie-themed movie night, story times and other fun activities.
For the bigger Barbie fan, Royal Caribbean is rolling out its "Barbie Premium Experience" which lets kids sleep in Barbie -themed cabins, attend Barbie tea parties and even design their own Barbie outfits for $349 per person. This experience also includes a dance class and a fashion show and guests get souvenirs such as a cruise-themed Barbie doll with outfits, a blanket and pillowcase to dress their bed back home, along with other items.
In partnership with Mattel, Royal Caribbean will start these programs on a few Royal Caribbean ships in January and it will be included on all ships by March. Customers can start booking the Barbie Premium Experience through travel agents starting in October.
The new Barbie programs are catered to kids between ages four and 11, but there are sure to be some adult Barbie fans on board who will want to get in on the fun.
