Sundance Head took home the iconic "The Voice" trophy after being named as Season 11's champion on December 13, 2016. His championship enabled Coach Shelton Blake to get his fifth win in NBC's reality TV show.
Results were announced by "The Voice" host Carson Daly during the finals night on Tuesday. Sundance Head was named as champion, followed by runner-up Billy Gilman from Team Adam. Young powerhouse We' McDonald from Team Keys placed third, while another bet from Team Adam, Josh Gallagher, placed fourth.
It wasn't an easy win for the country-soul singer. According to CNN, it was ultimately a shocker for fans to learn about his win, when everybody expected runner-up Billy Gilman to go home as a champ. It were Gilman and McConald who were leading the competition from the start of the season. However, Head performed his best in the finals night when he performed Etta James' "At Last" and his original song "Darlin' Don't Go".
Sundance Head's win may be attributed to his capability to connect with his audience through singing, as well as his resemblance to famous country singer Chris Stapleton. It's also not bad to add that fans are simply touched by his backstory - a full time father and musician who wants to leave a legacy to his children.
According to Fox News, "The Voice" finals night was graced by big names in the music industry, including amazing performances by Ariana Grande and Stevie Wonder who sang their collaboration "Faith"; Sting, who debuted his new single "I Can't Stop Thinking About You"; The Weeknd, who performed the hit single "Starboy"; and John Legend, Kelly Clarkson and KISS, who individually performed with different "The Voice" finalists. Finally, Bruno Mars gave his powerful performance of his hit single, "24K Magic". "The Voice" fans are looking forward to the next season of the reality TV show as rumors of new coaches are surfacing. It is expected to come back in February 2017.
