Melanie C News Update: Former Spice Girls Member Shares About Eating Disorder During '90s Fame

The Spice Girls member Mel C or Melanie Chisholm, shared something on her recent interview. She opened up to public regarding her developing eating disorder during ‘90s time on her Spice girls’ girl group.

According to US Weekly, Mel self-confessed that it took for a moment for her to confess that she had an issue. Mel stated on her interview on BBC’s Good Food: “I joined the Spice Girls when I was 20 and it was an insane time. I developed an eating disorder; I was in the spotlight, being photographed constantly, and I started to become self-conscious of my body image.”

As she continued, she said that: “I was in denial for a long time but I always wanted to get better. I had talking therapies and holistic therapies, like acupuncture. Also, sport became really important to me too.”
However, this isn’t the first time that she has spoken frankly about her physique image matters, which included much physical training. Also, she confessed that “being in the public eye took a toll on her confidence” in an interview with the UK’s Daily Mail last 2011. She even added: “Being in the Spice Girls was amazing, but also very tough,” she said. “I was young and impressionable, and I found it hard to read about myself. The tabloids were cruel about my appearance, and nothing can prepare you for that. You just have to fight your way through it.”

But then, among the undesirable things that people said about her at the time, she recollected, were that she was kind of “gobby” and “masculine.” Some rumors, she said at the time, even asked her sexuality based on her presence and “athletic” personality.

On the other hand, according to ET, as for a Spice Girls gettogether, Mel C doesn't give the impression to be on board as she asserts: "We're four individuals, we've gone on to have separate lives and careers and want different things.” But, this isn't to say the Mel C is keeping out of the focus.
