'Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare' Free Five-Day Trial! Experience Zombies And Multiplayer On Windows PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4

"Call of Duty" series was once on top of the world with its skyrocketing sales number. However, this is no longer the case with "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare." In response to this, Activision will be offering a free five-day trial version of the game starting on December 15. The trial version will include the first two chapters of campaign mode, Zombies mode capped at level 3, and online multiplayer with a level 15 cap.

The "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" free trial version will be available for download on Windows PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Any progress that players make in the game's free trial version will automatically be carried over to the full version should players choose to purchase it. The latest release in the "Call of Duty" franchise was developed by Infinity Ward that serves as its third installment in the futuristic-themed releases of Activision's long running FPS series. It features highly advanced weaponry, space vehicle combat, and multiplier combat abilities.

A report from CNBC showed that the sales numbers for physical copies of the game were down by at least 50 percent compared to the number of copies sold by "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" in November of last year. This also matches a similar decline reported in the U.K.

There are a few notable caveats to be taken from this from low sales number of the series. First of all, retail sales have always been known to drop consistently until supplies last. Once this happens, digital copies of the game will be taking over. But, this is still not enough to account for the title's massive drop for this year.

The second thing worth noting is that most gamers purchased the $80 edition of the game that comes bundled with the remastered edition of "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare," which means several physical copies of "Infinite Warfare" were purchased for 33 percent more than the usual price. On top of that, that this is the first "Call of Duty" not being released on PS3 and Xbox 360 that limits its target market.

According to Polygon, this is not the first time that Activision has released freebies for the "Call of Duty" series. But, they were usually multiplayer promos that were given well after the game's release date. "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" was released on November 4 for Windows PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
