Verizon and AT&T, which both carry the iPhone, have set a vacation blackout for their employees starting September 21 so that all employees can be around to deal with the madness that will ensue when the new iPhone hits stores.
It is also believed that Apple will unveil a new iPad mini at the September 12 event.
According to rumors, the iPhone 5 will have a two-tone design, a smaller 9-pin dock connector, 4G LTE, a slightly taller 4-inch display and a headphone jack on the bottom rather than on the top.
Last year, the iPhone 4S was announced on Oct. 4 and the device hit stores 10 days later on Oct. 14. According to the new iPhone 5 release date rumors, the phone would come out nine days after it is revealed.
Last month, there were some rumors swirling around Twitter that the new iPhone could cost $800, but these rumors were not confirmed.
